Emily Fleisher (she/her), a Senior Project Director at Advance NYC, partners with clients to steer individual giving, major gift, and board development; feasibility studies and campaigns; development assessments; and strategic planning processes. Since joining Advance NYC in January 2020, Emily has led teams that have raised nearly $25M for nonprofits with annual budgets ranging from $100K to $10M in the performing arts, arts and culture, social justice, and environmental sectors. Emily has been honored to provide support to dozens of organizations whose missions bring joy and understanding, while addressing some of society’s most pressing needs. Inspired by the culture of learning at Advance NYC, Emily enjoys sharing insights across diverse organizations and subject areas. Her approach to work is infused with a deep appreciation for community and collaboration, underscored by a steadfast commitment to achieving excellence with efficiency.
Prior to joining Advance NYC, Emily played a pivotal role in development at the prestigious Manhattan Theatre Club for more than a decade, culminating in her tenure as Associate Director of Development for the last five years. In that capacity, she forged strong relationships with board and staff leaders, collaborating on special initiatives, including the launch of their milestone 50th anniversary campaign. By the end of her tenure, Emily and her team were consistently surpassing the mark, raising more than $6 million annually, notably securing more than $1.3 million in major gifts. Under her stewardship, the MTC board experienced substantial growth, welcoming more than 16 new members, half of whom were cultivated through individual giving channels, while major donor households surged by 112%.
A graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, CT, Emily's journey in the nonprofit sector began at Berkeley Repertory Theatre, where she spent five seasons in the Education and Marketing departments. These days, weekends find Emily running around Prospect Park (figuratively and literally) alongside her two moderately-behaved human children and one very naughty pitbull rescue.
