Denise Ward (she/her), a Project Associate at Advance NYC, collaborates closely with nonprofit partners, providing administrative and strategic support to amplify their initiatives.
Denise comes to Advance NYC with a passion for community building and experience as a multi-disciplinary creative and arts administrator, having spearheaded several successful fundraising campaigns for advocacy and arts and culture organizations.
Originally from Houston, TX, she has held positions in arts administration for various organizations across the country, specializing in operations, programming, digital media management, and diversity, equity & inclusion. Prior to joining Advance NYC, Denise worked in operations at The School for Strings and led the expansion of the American Festival for the Arts (AFA) digital media efforts and DEI initiatives as the Digital Media Manager & DEI Officer.
With a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Boston University, Denise blends artistic sensibility with strategic acumen. While at BU, Denise supported the executive leadership team at Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras which she credits as the impetus behind her passion for arts administration. In her free time, she loves to discuss pop culture, Beyoncé, and the many ways that everyone can support the next generation of artists and creatives.
